By providing support and monitoring vital signs during ketamine IV infusion therapy, caretakers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients, while aiding in data tracking.
With Osmind’s Caretaker integration, caretakers can scan vital signs data “automagically” from the patient’s finger cuff, and sync with their chart. All the caretaker has to do is scan a QR code with their caretaker tablet—leaving you peace of mind to focus on treatment.
This article will explain how you can utilize caretakers during ketamine treatments using Osmind’s caretaker integration.
Before the patient’s first session:
1) Set up data forwarding on the Caretaker tablet. To do this, go to the gear icon on the Caretaker tablet and select Data Forwarding. Once you have an Osmind account , you'll add the Osmind Portal URL to enable data syncing during the session. This ensures that the session is recorded and synced properly with the Osmind Portal.
2) Check your device settings. Make sure the correct time zone is selected. This ensures that the times of the session are recorded properly. Also, make sure that your device is connected to wifi and that the bottom of the main screen says "Portal Connecting" before the session starts.
3) Use the correct patient ID. When setting up the session, you will need to use the 6-character Patient ID from the patient's Osmind Patient Profile. This ID is case-sensitive, so make sure that all capital letters are capitalized. To make things easier, we have added a QR code to the patient profile and to the visit note that you can scan using the Caretaker tablet. Scanning the code will automatically populate the patient identifier onto the Caretaker device.
Before running your first session with a patient:
1) Set up data forwarding on the Caretaker tablet. To do this, go to the gear icon on the Caretaker tablet and select Data Forwarding. Add the Osmind Portal URL to enable data syncing during the session.
2) Check your device settings. Make sure your device's timezone is correct to ensure that the proper session times are recorded. Additionally, ensure that your device is connected to wifi and that the bottom of the main screen says "Portal Connecting" before the session starts.
3) Use the correct patient ID. To sync the vitals into the correct patient chart, use the 6-character patient ID from the patient's Osmind Patient Profile. Keep in mind that the ID is case-sensitive, so make sure all capital letters are entered correctly. We've also added a QR code to the patient's profile and visit note that you can scan using the Caretaker tablet. Scanning the code will automatically populate the patient identifier onto the Caretaker device, making it easy to sync data accurately.
During the session:
During the session, have the caretaker pay attention to the tablet screen. If it shows ‘Portal Offline,’ data isn’t being recorded to Osmind.
After the session:
After the session, be sure to click "Add Caretaker Vitals" in the clinical note in Osmind. This will automatically add 10 data points from throughout the session, providing a comprehensive overview of your patient's vital data. You can edit imported data as needed directly in Osmind.
Make sure to save all sessions to your Caretaker device as a backup, in case you need to restore data. If you experience unstable wifi or if the Patient ID was entered incorrectly, let us know so we can try to recover the data to the correct patient chart.
