Boris Heifets, MD, PhD

Dr. Boris Heifets is Scientific Advisor at Osmind. He is Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, and, by courtesy, of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, at Stanford. He is a member of the Stanford Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute and Stanford Bio-X.

Dr. Heifets is a neuroscientist recognized for his work across both clinical research and basic neuroscience. His lab studies how new rapid acting psychiatric therapies, like ketamine, MDMA and psilocybin, produce lasting changes in nervous system function, behavior, and therapeutic outcomes. Dr. Heifets has made major contributions to the field around neurobiological underpinnings of ketamine for depression and MDMA's therapeutic properties.

In addition to his research, Dr. Heifets is a board-certified neuroanesthesiologist who sees patients at Stanford Hospital.

He received his BS in Neuroscience at Yale, his MD and PhD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, residency training at Stanford, fellowship at Stanford, and postdoctoral research training at Stanford with Rob Malenka and Alan Schatzberg.
