Here are a few things to know as you learn more: Taking part in a research study is voluntary and is not part of your regular health care. Before you decide whether or not to participate, please read this information carefully so you know why the study is being done and what it involves. Thank you for taking the time to consider taking part in this study.

About the CANDID Study
CANDID stands for Community Assessment of Novel Digital Instruments in Depression. This observational research study is exploring the relationship between psychiatric symptoms and digital measures—like patterns in speech and facial expressions.

What does that mean?
We're looking at whether the way you speak and recognize emotions could give doctors new ways to understand depression better. We don't yet know if these methods will be helpful.
What makes this study different?
No clinic visits required - everything is done from your home
No investigational drugs or medical treatments
You continue your regular care with your own doctor
Simple online tasks that take about 45-50 minutes per visit

What this research matters?
Today, doctors assess depression mainly through conversations and questionnaires. This study explores whether digital biomarkers could give doctors additional ways to understand and track depression over time.
100% Virtual:
No Travel. No Treatment Changes.
Unlike traditional research studies, CANDID has no physical site locations. You can participate from anywhere in the United States, completing all study activities from the comfort of your home or any place with internet access.
What you need:
A computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with internet
A quiet space for video calls
About 45-50 minutes for each of 4 study visits
No medication changes. No experimental treatments. Just help advance depression research from home.
